“In being vegetarian, I think I miss the beverages most,” I said last night, staring hopelessly into the fridge.
“Try water,” replied Sam.
Leave it to Sam to turn a simple thirst into an exercise in Zen. It was as simple as water.
It’s not my letting go of Diet Coke or even soy milk that’s the issue; it’s letting go of the expectation that hydration also needs to entertain my taste buds. They’re fine without the stimulation, and I’m fine without the added calories.
